“Music has always been a voice for change, and a tool for connection. By speaking out in favor of marine conservation, artists, bands and festivals have the unique power to amplify the urgency of protecting our oceans. As cultural influencers, artists can reach millions of hearts and minds, inspiring action and mobilizing global communities to ensure the survival of marine ecosystems. The fight for our ocean is the fight for our planet, and the voices of artists are crucial in making that fight heard.”

–  Geert Vons, SEA SHEPHERD Artistic Director

BRUTAL ASSAULT is an open-air extreme metal festival that takes place in the 18th-century army fortress Josefov, located in Jaroměř, Czechia. It is held each August early in the month from Wednesday until Saturday. The festival has two alternating main stages. Currently, Brutal Assault features artists that perform all forms of extreme metal, including some of the genre’s most prominent figures, as well as artists with dark and intense styles from genres outside of heavy metal such as punk rock, experimental rock and electronic. SEA SHEPHERD is extremely grateful to Brutal Assault for the continued support over the years!

GOJIRA is a French heavy metal band. Founded as Godzilla in 1996, the band’s lineup – brothers Joe (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (lead guitar), and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass) – has been the same since the band changed its name to Gojira in 2001. Gojira has been known for its progressive and technical death metal styles and lyrics that often feature themes of spirituality, philosophy, and environmentalism, and has frequently supported environmental causes. Joe Duplantier has said if he was not a musician, he would be an environmental activist. Gojira cooperates with SEA SHEPHERD to raise money and awareness for the organization’s work to protect marine life, especially dolphins, whales, and sharks.

Getting the chance to create this guitar and to support SEA SHEPHERD means a lot to us, and we’ve been so excited working on this project since day one. To be a little part of supporting SEA SHEPHERD’s vital mission is an honour. I really hope whoever wins this guitar sees it as a reminder to be active and make a difference!”
